Keys to Success: 3 Steps to Fulfilling your Purpose

We can disagree regarding the roads to success. We can disagree regarding definitions of success. But we can certainly agree that success regardless of how you get there or how you define it, will not happen if you don’t discover and fulfill your purpose. Let’s assume you already know what you were created to do, below are 3 steps to fulfill any purpose:

1. Dream Big! If the dream does not scare you, it’s not big enough. If the dream does not seem impossible it’s not big enough. If the dream ONLY benefits you, it’s not big enough. If you can do it by yourself, it’s not big enough. Your purpose must be bigger than you, bigger than your abilities, bigger than your educational background, bigger than your circle of influence, and bigger than your eyes can see. It has to be so deep, that all you can say is “I don’t know how, but I just know I need to be doing ……” Who do you want to help? What have you overcame and how can you use it to help others? The dream requires vulnerability, transparency, and willingness to step out of your comfort zone and into the realm of the unknown.

2. Set Goals! Once you have written the vision you must begin to set goals. Break that dream down into annual, monthly and weekly goals. Most people have a problem with setting goals because they believe they have to know all the steps. This is not true. Sometimes all you need is the first step. As you go, as you do, the next step will become clearer. The bible says “a man plans his way, but God orders his steps.” This is not an excuse not to plan but requires you to be open to rearrangement. If you don’t know what to do, do your research. We have the internet at our finger tips, there is no longer an excuse for not doing anything. Let Google be your friend. Also do be afraid to ask others. People love to give their opinion, yes you will have to weed through the foolishness, but you will also guide some valuable insight.

3. Take Action! Don’t let all that information and research go to waste. You must become a doer. Don’t be afraid to step out on faith. You will be surprised the doors that will begin to open once you start moving. Even an open door appears closed from afar. Don’t despise small beginnings. The first step may seem far off from the final goal but don’t let that deter you. Learn to celebrate each step rather than waiting till you reach the final destination. One thing is certain, if you don’t get started you will never finish.

Dream big, Set goals, and Take action! The world is waiting for you. Don’t wait for or assume it’s going to come to you. Remember each step you take opens the window to more possibilities. Your fear and unwillingness to leap, maybe what’s holding you back.
